Historicity: This is the only tirth where all the five Kalyanakas - Chyavan, birth, diksa, attainment of omniscience and attainment of Moksa - of Bhagawan Vasupujyaji took place. At time in the past, this was a large city. Bhagawan Adishvar, Bhagawan Parshvanath and Bhagawan Mahavir Swami put their feet on this land. Mahavir had his third and twelfth monsoon sojourns in this city. It was a very prosperous and happy city. It was the capital of karna, the donor of Dadhivahan of karagadu and of Ajatashatru, the son of the Shrenik,. Many brave Jain Kings, groups of Sadhus and rich merchants lived here. The religious activities that they did on this holy land will be noted in letters of gold. On the day of Nirvana of Bhagawan, the fourteenth day of the bright half of the month of Asadh, sweet balls are offered to God. Lost in the worship of Bhagawan, thousands of devotees, spread the message of the Jan religion. Many idols are installed in this temple in memory of Kalyanakas of Bhagawan. Besides there are Digambar Jain temples of the hills of Bhagalpur, Mandargiri and Nathnagar.Though the city is very ancient, no ancientness is seen in the temples. It is believed that in the course of its frequent renovations, the specimens of artistry and ancientness were perhaps exchanged. In the upper part of the temple, the incidents of the life of Shripal and Mayana are beautifully painted. Many idols of all the five Kalyanakas of Bhagawan are installed in the temples and they are very spectacular. The famous harivansh  started from here.  Here Muni Dharamghosh attained Nirvana.  Numerous muni like Padamrath, Anchal and Ashok attained nirvana at this place. There is an ancient temple on Champa Nala. Here 3 Digambar Jain mandir are must to be seen. This place is a siddh Kshetraas many ascetics like Padamrath, Anchal, Ashok and so may others have attained nirvana from this place. These Digamabr jain Mandir are managed by Bengal, Bihar Orissa digambar Jain Tirth Committee.
