How To Reach: It is outside the Vaishali town. The nearest railway
station of Muzzafarpur - Hajipur is at a distance of 35 kilometers from the temple. Bus
service and private vehicles are available. The Tourism Information center of the
department of tourism of the Govt. of India is here. Pilgrims can put up there. Board and
lodging provisions are also there.
Art and architecture: Bhagwan mahavir
Historicity: This temple has a very ancient, impressive and glorious
history. It is interwoven with Bhagawan Mahavir Swami. This is the place of the three
Kalyanakas (events beneficent the world) - chyavan, birth of diksa of Mahavir, according
to the Digambar belief. Once in the past, the city of Vaishali was very prosperous. The
Lichchhvi dynasty was chiefly in power. They were believed to be Kshtriyas of the
Jnatruvamsha. They had faith in Bhagawan Mahavir. History says that the King of the Magadh
was defeated by the King of Vaishali. The son of Shrenik- ajatshatru caused a split in the
Vaishali Sangha and invaded it and killed king Chetakof Vaishali, the King of Vaishali.
The glory of the city of Vaishali came to an end. It was nearly 2000 years old. The
anicient name of this place is Kundgram
(Vasukund) . The 2 Bighas area is never
ploughed as a mark of respect.The Govt. of Bihar established the Prakrit Jainological and
Ahinsa Research Sansthan. In the whole of India, this institute, the only one of its type,
has a distinct place. It tells the glorious story of the city of Vaishali. This city of
Vaishali, which has seen many ups and downs, is full of many ancient ruins which are
really handsome. The idol of God has a distinct artistry. Here is a museum of the
archeological department of the Govt. of India. The ancient idols and ruins are well
preserved. The village Kammal Chahra where the Bhagwan Mahavira had his first Aahar is
worth visiting. The famous Ashok pillar is also here.
