We pay our homage to five divine personalities but they are not different from us. they are symbol of noble qualitieswhich we strive to attain. The five stages are different states in the evolution of the soul. An Achrayas shows us the path to liberation and guide us in our pursuit of attaing moksha(freedom from the bondage of birth and death.
