How to
reach: It is
in the center of he village of Mahuva. The railway station of Mahuva is at a distance of
only two kilometers from the temple. There is a pukka road to the Jain temple. It is about
10 Kms from Palitana. Buses and taxis are available. Dharmashala and bhojanalas are
available at this place.
Historicity: This is the birthplace of Seth Javad Shah who renovated the
Shetrunjay temple for the thirteenth time in the year 108 of the Vikram era. This is also
the birth - place of Seth Jagdu Shah who offered to pay one and a quarter crores of gold
mohurs and put a holy garment on the idol in the times of King Kumarpal in the twelfth
century. This place is regarded as one of the group of the five sacred places of Mt.
Shetrunjay. The idol of Mahavir in this grand temple is also known as living God. Such
idols are very rare. This is also the birthplace and the nirvana place of Acharya Shri
Nemisuriji, the protector of this sacred place. The last renovation of this temple was
accomplished on the thirteenth day of the bright half of the month of Magh in the year
1885 by building a splendid seven - peaked and four - Storied The idol of Bhagawan
