in Matar village. . The nearest railway station of Nadiad is at a distance of 16
kilometers and the nearest town of Kheda is at a distance of 10 kilometers. Bus services
and private vehicles are available here. Boarding and lodging facilities are also
available.
Historicity: This ancient and miraculous image of Bhagawan Satyadev
Sumatinath was found from the open ground of the village Suhunj of the
Mahemadavad Taluk. It was formally installed in the splendid temple of Matar in the year
1854 of the Vikram era. Later on, it was renovated many times. When the idol was being
brought to Matar, there was a heavy flood on account of rains in the catchments area of
the Vatrak and the Rodhi rivers. All the devotees present there, decided to halt and wait
there. But the cart-driver saw sand instead of water. Thus they crossed the river without
any difficulty, and the devotees Shouted out of joy - Satyadev Sumitinath. The
idol is, therefore, called Bhagawan Sacha Sumitinath. Many miracles happened
here from time to time
