Metrana Tirth
Mulnayak: Nearly
30 cms. high, white - colored idol of Bhagawan Adishvar in the Padmesana Posture.
Tirth: It is
in the center of the village of Metrana. The railway station of Metrana is only at a
distance of two kilometers from the temple. This railway station on the Mehsana - Kakosi
railway line, is at a distance of 16 kilometers from the city of Siddhapur. Buses and
taxis are available vehicles. Dharmashalas and Bhojanashalas are also there.
Historicity: According to a stone
inscriptionthe mention of the second day of
the bright half of the month of Ashadh of the year 1343 of the Vikram era. It is indicated
that this temple belongs to a period prior to the fourteenth century of Vikram era. A
fortunate Shravaka got the hint about the ancient idols in a dream and accordingly, this
idol along with the idols of Adinath, Shantinath, Kunthunath, and Padmaprabh Swami were
found in the year 1899 of the Vikram era. On the auspicious third day of the bright half
of the month of Vaishakh of the year 1947 of the Vikram era, the Sangha in the temple
reinstalled these idols. On the fifteenth day of the bright half of the months of Kartak
and Chaitra and thirteenth day of the bright half of the month of Magasar, a fair is held
here every year.
