How to reach: This tirth is 28 Kms from Humnabad. One may travel 22 kms on Hyderabad-Pune road from Humnabad towards Umargi(maharastra) and from a three way junction, it is 6 Kms to the town of Basavkalayan. There is a board remembering the Bhagwan mahavir at this junction. The stay arrangements could be made at Sastapur near kalyani. The visitors are advised to return to Humnabad on their way to Gulbarga and bijapur pilgrimage centers.

Art and architecture: Meuseum

Historicity: This place was the capital of Jain Kings in ancient time.   the fort constructed by chalukya kings is full of jaina Images on the walls. A meuseum is also housed in this fort. One must see the idols of 10-11 CAD. The famous saint shri basaveshwar has started a new faith 'veershaiv" which was greatly influenced by the princples of Bhagwan mahavir. There is a ancient ruined jain temple near jama masjid in the market.
