to Reach:
The tirth is at a distance of 105 Kms from Belur, 70 Kms from Hasan and 65 kilometers from
Mangalore on Charmadi road. Here the pilgrims take bath in the River Netravati before
visiting the temple.Bus service and private vehicles are available. There are neat and
clean dharmashalas and bhojanshalas. There are many other dharmashalas also in the
village.
Mulnayak: Nearly 36 cms. High red-colored idol of Bhagawan Chandraprabh
in the padmasana posture.
Historicity: The ancient name of this tirth was Kuduma. This
temple is more than a thousand years old. The charitable Jain merchant Hedge built this
temple. Even today the members of his family look after the temple. this temple is
on a mound near the residence of the Heggade. The mulnayak idol of bhagwan chandranath is
in gribha griha. there is achoubisi with Bhagwan dharamnath in the center.Jains and
pilgrims are provided with board and lodging free of charge and this is very praiseworthy.
It always seems as if a fair is held here. Here a very famous temple of Shiva (ManjuNath)
situated in the townThis is a center of co-ordination of all religions. On the auspicious
occasion of Diwali in the month of Kartak, a conference of Sarvadharma Sahitya is held
here every year.In the Hedge Bhavan, there are two other temples. On the hill outside the
village, there is a very splendid idol of 39 feet high of Bahubali in the Khadgasana
posture.
The story behind the manjunath temple tells us that the ancestors of heggade family were asked by Devs to built a temple for them which was later adorned by the Linga of manjunath( shiva). this place is the living example of coexistence of all religions. The 39 feet high idol of bahubali was started in the time of late sh. Ratnaverma heggade and installed by Sh. virendera heggade on 25 feburary, 1975 in a function.. The manstambh in front of the bahubali idol is very artistic and is adorned by Brahmadev.
The manunath swami is a very miraculous temple and no body copuld take a false pledge. The idol of bhagwan shiva and ganesh and devi kanyakumari are made of gold.here the food and lodging is provided free for all pilgrims.
