from Bidar by Roadways Buses. Gulbarga is on Chennai-Mumbai Railway route.
Historicity: Gulbarga was a great Jain city in ancient period.
At present there is only one Digambar temple at Mahavir chowk and one Svetamabar temple in
kirana bazaar. A rich treasures of ancient
Jain idols and architecture were found in the district at various places like Malkhed,
Sedam, hunsai, Athnoor (afzalpur), bankur Gogi, harsur, Hunchalinge, malli, Inglinge etc.
It appears that this place was a great Jain center in 9th century AD during the
period of Rastrkut dynasty. The Museum on Sedam Road at Gulbarga houses the rich
collection of ancient Jain idols of 8 CAD to 11 CAD. The museum remains open from 8AM to
1PM.
