art and architecture: Shatasrkut at sankh temple
Historicity: There are two famous temples still surviving. Sankh temple and Bhagwan ananatnath temple. sankh basdi is of 7 CAD or earlier period. this would had been a huge temple. Now we could see the ruined idols and parts of temples. The rare sahastkut with one thousand jina images is a big attraction for tourists and yatris. The 5.25 feet high sahastkut is of 11 CAD with Mulnayak on each of the four side of the sahastrkut.. there are idol sof devis Padmavati and Kusmanadani. there are numerous other images of jinas, yakshi and other devs in the temple.
The other temple is dedicated to Bhagwan Ananatnath in a courtyard near the local bus stand. this temple is of 10 CAD. The mulnayak Bhagwan ananatnath idol is of black colored stone of 5 feet high in kayotsarg posture. the other idols of bhagwan parsvanathand a ruined choubisi with bhagwan adinath as mulnayak is also very ancient of 11 CAD. The idols of devi padmavati and brahamadev are considered very miraculous. One may proceeds to bankapur from here
