Shri Gajpantha Tirth

Mulnayak: Nearly 153 cms high black-colored idol of Bhagawan Parshvanath in the half-Padmasana posture.

How to Reach: it is on a hill of the village Masrul near Nasik. The nearest railway station of Nasik Road is at a distance of nearly 20 kilometers. The tirth is at a distance of 7 kilometers from the foot of the hill. The road ascending the hill is one or one and a half miles long. There are steps for climbing. Bus service and private vehicles go to the fort of the hill. Board and lodging provisions are there at the foot of the hill.

Historicity: Seven Balbhadra munis and many other Munis attained salvation here. One of them was Muni Gajsukumar. That is the reason why this place is called Gajpantha. According to jain scriptures this is a very ancient tirth. In the ninth century of the Vikram era, Chamraj Odiyar, the king of the Mysore state renovated this tirth. Therefore, it is also called Chamarleni. Leni means Cave in the local language. A new Temple dedicated to Lord Parshvanath was recently build.
