How to Reach: It is in the
Pydhuni locality in the Mumbai city. It is a center of many Jain

Historicity: Today there
are here and there delightful idols known by the short and sweet name Godi. A
number of famous and impressive of Bhagawan Parshvanath are known by this name. The
original idol of Godiji Parshvanath is not found today. But a number of ancient and
impressive installed idols of Godiji Parshvanath are present today. Among them this idol
of Godiji Parshvanath in the Pydhuni locality of Mumbai is very famous. From the ancient
temple of Hamirpur in Rajasthan, this idol was borught to Mumbai. This idol of in the
Godji Parshvanath temple is delightful, impressive and very ancient. The fort locality of
this temple built in the beginning of the ninteenth century, caught horrible fire in the
year 1859 of the vikram era. The fire lasted for 72 hours and caused a ruin worth lakhs of
rupees. Therefore, many Jain families of the fort locality came to settle in the Pydhuni
locality. It was, therefore, decided to take this idol of Godiji Parshvanath to another
place. In the year 1868 of the vikram era, a splendid Jain temple was built, the splendid
idol of Godiji parshvanath was installed in the new temple. This idol gained grandeur and
became famous all around. Nearly ten years ago, without shifting the idol of Mulnayak, the
temple was renovated like a gods residence. On the tenth day of the bright half of
the month of Vaishakh, a flag is raised every years.In this locality and in the city of
Mumbai, there are many splendid temples, upashraya, jnanabhandars, pathasalas and
iyambilshalas.
