(97 Kms). One can reach here from Delhi by train also.

Historicity:
The city of Gwalior is divided into three parts- Gwalior-laskar-Murar. There are 4 temples,2 Chitalaya and 2 Jain
dharamshala in Gwalior. In Laskar, there are 20 Jain temples, 3 Chaitalaya and 3
dharamshalas. Murar has 2 Jain temples, 2 Chaitalaya and one dharamshala which is equipped
with all moden facilities.
Gwalior
Fort is about 5000 years old and there are numerous (about 1500) Jain idols on the Hill
inside the fort. These idols are in five groups- urvahi north-west area- north-east
area- South-west area and south east area.The 17.5 mts high idol of Bhagwan Adinath is
outside urvahi gate of the fort. Another 10.5 mts idol
is of Bhagwan Suparsvanath in Padamasan is in Paththar-ki bavadi (Stone tank) area. There
are 40 idols in standing posture-24 in padamasan and 840 idols inscribed on walls and
pillars in Urvahi area. Besides the idols in the fort, the other important places are-Man
mandir- Gujri mahal (museum0- bavadi- karan Mandiretc. The Sas bahu ka bada mandir and
chota mandir are also very important. There is a very big and beautiful mandir between
hathi Gate and Sas-bahu temple.
A
number of Jain fairs are held at Gwalior.
