found here even today. Even in Chaityavandan, there is a mention of Mandavgadh. This shows
its antiquity. The idol of Bhagawan Suparshvanath was installed about the year 1472 of the
Vikram era and afterwards the temple was renovated. It is noteworthy that the whole city
was got decorated by Pethad shah on the occasion of greeting Dharmaghoshasurishvarji on
his arrival. Samgram Soni of this place wrote the book, Buddhisagar and got the Agams
written in letters of gold. For this he was highly honoured in the royal court of King
Mohammed Khilji. There are many evidences showing that in the past there were 700 Jain
temples and Pausadhashalas. this was a prosperous city inhabited by six lakh Jains. From
every family a gold mohur and a brick were given to a man who newly came to settle here.
People of those days had such noble feelings towards co-religionists. There is another
ancient temple of Bhagawan Shantinath in the compound of this temple.
