Shri Amarsagar Tirth

 

Mulnayak: Nearly 75 cms. high, white - colored idol of Bhagawan Adishvar in the Padmasana posture.

How to reach: It is in the center of a pond in the Amarsagar village. The nearest railway station of Jaisalmer is at a distance 3 kilometers. Bus service and private vehicles are available. It is convenient to go to the temple via the Jaisalmer dharmashala.

Historicity: The idol was installed by Patva Sheth Himataramji Bafna under the auspices of Acharyashri Jinamahendrasurishvarji in the year 1928 of the Vikram era. The ancient idol is believed to belong to the times of King Samprati. This is a tirth of the Jaisalmer group of five tirths. The Shetrunjaya Pilgrimage led by Bafna brothers of this place is very famous. Mines of yellow stone known as the jaisalmer stone, are famous in the country and abroad. This stone when uncured could be worked upon for fine carving and after curing by water, it become strong.There are two temples on the bank of the pond and there are two Dadawadis. The idols in this temple are large and very beautiful. They are nearly 1500 years old. The stone nets on all the sides of the temple are very delightful to see.
