Legends tell us that the idol was found by one old tribak woman in the forest and she took
a vow that she would worship the idol if her ambition is fulfilled. On fulfillment of her
ambitions, she started worshipping the idolbut it was difficult for her to climb the hill
daily so after some days she requested the God to come down to her house. she had a dream
that she should bring a carriage of sarkanda and she should not look back. The oldwoman
could carry the heavy idol but on reaching the stream, she got suspious whether the idol
had fallen away and she looked back. Due to her suspicion, the power of faith was broken
and the carriage could not be taken any further and the temple was made at that very
site.
