Chandrapuri Tirth
Mulnayak: 45 cms. high,
white - colored idol of Bhagawan Chandraprabha in the Padmasana Posture. (The idols of
Bhagawan in the Svetambar and Digambar temples are quite similar).
How to reach: It is on the bank of the Ganga river near the
Chandravati village. The nearest railway Kadipur is at a distance of 5 kilometers and
Benaras is at a distance of 23 kilometers Bus service and private vehicles are available.
Taxi is available from Varanasi upto the temple For Svtambare and Digamalars, there is a
provision for board and lodging.
Historicity: The history of this tirth begins from the times of Bhagawan
Chandraprabh, the eighth Tirthankara. This Holy Land is the place of the four Kalyanakas -
chyavan, birth, diksa and attainment of omniscience - of Bhagawan Chandraprabh. This tirth
is mentioned in Vividh Tirth Kalpa written by Acharya Jinaprabhasurishvarji,
in Jain, scriptures and in many tirthamaleas. In this tirth there are many ancient hills
if the archaic logical department undertakes research work, many remains and other
material can be found. The most valuable days in Bhagwans Life passed here. This
place, therefore, his a great significance. Every particle here deserves adoration. Even
today, under influence of the pure particles, pilgrims get engrossed in prayer to
Bhagawan, experience spiritual peace and make their life successful.
