Shri Pabhosa Tirth

Mulnayak: Nearly 75 cms. high, almond - colored idol of Bhagawan Parsahvnath in the Padmasana posture.

How to reach: It is on a hill in the Pabhosa Village on the bank of the Yamuna river. There is 10 Kilometers long road to Kaushmabi, which goes across the river Yamuna. The nearest Rail head is allahabad at 70 Kms from Pabhosa.There are 175 steps to climb this small hill. Bus and private vehicles are available. Board and lodging provisions are adequate.


Historicity: This idol is believed to belong to the times preceding a hundred years of A.D., According to the Digambar belief, this is the holy land of diksa and attainment of omniscience of Padmaprbh Swami, the Sixth Tirthankara. This firth was a garden of the Kaushambi City. According to the indication in a dream of the pujari, this idol was installed as Mulnayak in the temple. This Pabhosa tirth is regarded to be extremely holy. This is also regarded as an ‘Atishay Kshetra’. The color of the idol goes on changing from morning to evening. Sometimes at night, saffron drops come showering. A fair is held here on the fifteenth day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra every year. There are Jain mandirs at Shahzadpur;Daranagar and Pali near Pabhosa.
